That's a Wrap on Huntsville's Favorite Musical!

That’s a wrap on Les Misérables and on BTL’s 2024-25 Season! And once again, Les Misérables proved that it is Huntsville’s favorite musical, regaining the title of BTL’s #1 grossing show of all time! Les Mis is not only Huntsville’s favorite show, but it won BroadwayWorld’s “Broadway Brackets” competition as the “Ultimate Best Musical” for the second year in a row.

Why do we love Les Mis so much? I think because it’s a universal story that everyone can identify with, and today more than ever. It’s about love, redemption, broken dreams, new dreams, social justice, etc.....It checks off all the boxes with the magnificent sets, lighting, gives you all the “feels” and arguably has the best musical score ever written for the musical theater.

As you know I toured with this beautiful show for years and I still absolutely love it. I equate that with "I worked in the kitchen of the restaurant but still love their food." You don’t get a better endorsement than that one!

We cultivated an Opening Night Party, which occurred an hour prior to the performance, with some of our most hardcore Les Mis fans and influencers to help us create a big buzz and arouse the authentic enthusiasm and eagerness around Huntsville’s opportunity to see EIGHT PERFORMANCES of their favorite musical. Opening Night was epic and here’s a sampling of photos to show you just that:

You all know how important our local high school theatre kids are to me, so I’m absolutely thrilled that for this Les Mis engagement we had the chance to host TWO student workshop opportunities: A Technical Theatre Workshop & a Performance Theatre Workshop!

The Les Misérables Technical Theatre (and More) Workshop, “A World of Opportunity,” was a huge success! Seven “Les Mis” company members (including company management, stage management, props, orchestra & wardrobe) introduced the multitude of job opportunities behind the curtain, to 100 High School Theater Students from all over the Tennessee Valley. And big thanks to Lee High Theater for hosting us in their beautiful auditorium. I hope that this is just the beginning of these types of workshops. Here’s some photos of this phenomenal event:

Next up was our last Student Performance Workshop of the season and it certainly ended on a high note with Les Misérables cast member, Juliette Redden! Juliette is not only an incredible talent in the show, where she is in the ensemble and understudies Fantine, but she is also a truly gifted teacher. Our theatre students here couldn’t have been happier!

Big shoutout to Smith Thornton Advisors, LLC for sponsoring this workshop and tickets to the show for our local high school theater students! Here’s some photos of the performance workshop:

I even popped into the Lookout Lounge Reception on Friday and Saturday evenings before the show to talk to the patrons about my life from growing up in Huntsville to moving to NYC, touring all over the world with various Broadway Tours (including Les Mis) and then back home again to Huntsville as the Director of Communications for BTL. Thanks for hosting me, Emily Vandiver and Robert Lane. It was fun reminiscing about my glory days on the barricade and such! Here’s a few photos:
