Hello from Kip’s Korner! It’s been a minute (or 8 months actually) since we were together. I hope y’all missed me as much as I missed you. But I’m back now. So much has happened since my last post about SHUCKED… where do I begin??

How about: Christmas, Ringing in the 2026 New Year, Hadestown, The Sound of Music, The Choir of Man, High School Musical Season begins with a plethora of episodes on "Show & Tell," & Juliet, Fabiola’s Masterclass with 70 of our high school theatre students, New Season Press Conference, Mrs. Doubtfire, NASA Artemis II Launch with Megan Carter (my Right-Hand Person with the Tallulahs), Seeing all of the Spring High School Musicals, Water for Elephants, THE TALLULAH AWARDS, Rehearsing our Jimmy nominees Linda Mathis & Lucas McMinemon and taking them on the Tallulahs/Jimmys press tour all over Huntsville, Twelve day trip to NYC as a chaperone for the Jimmys, The Jimmy Awards, slept for a month and now back at it for the 26-27 BTL Season with a big ‘ol tattoo of Ms. Tallulah Bankhead on my right arm to remind me what she'd say: “Nobody can be exactly like me, Darling. Sometimes even I have trouble doing it.”

Since writing about all the above would result in a thousand-page Kip’s Korner blog post, how about I share some of my camera roll crumbs instead. Or as the kids say, December 15th  through August 20th  photo dump:

  David Josefsberg (Doc Brown) & Lucas Hallauer (Marty McFly) in BTTF ! I would like to start out by just saying it was SO MUCH FUN video chatting with David Josefsberg! He is just inherently hilarious and I was lol'ing the entire first 5 mins of our chat where he was mostly talking about whether his camera was on or not, could I hear him in his cavernous setting, and about his rockstar wife Liz (who called him at that exact moment). He asked if he could pick up (good husband) and of course I said yes. Then it was about his son Benji who is a senior in high school and just starred in his school's production of The Prom , "riffing like his daddy" (per David) and on and on. BTL STAFF PICKS for our 2025-2026 Season

  We are just about FIVE WEEKS AWAY from the Opening Night ( Back To The Future: The Musical ) of our 2025-2026 Season! So I got to thinking about how many marvelous shows we are bringing to the VBC Concert Hall this season and trying to decide which I was most looking forward to seeing. "Life is a Circus" in the brand new National Tour of WATER FOR ELEPHANTS!

  I had the absolute pleasure of seeing "Water for Elephants" on Broadway almost exactly a year ago to the day. And boy did it give me all the feels: laughter, spectacle, nostalgia, happy & sad tears, but most of all hope. This beautiful show ends on a hopeful note, that regardless of all the magnificent highs and sometimes devastating lows, these people have not only chosen the "circus life" but they continue to choose it over and over again. It's a wonderful thing to spend time with these characters (including young Jacob Jankowski) for two hours & 40 minutes and really experience what it was like to be touring with the circus during the Great Depression. And to see everything play out through the eyes of "elderly, present day" Jacob makes it all the more captivating, but also at times catastrophic.
