That's a Wrap for the Queendom of SIX!

 

That's a wrap on SIX and we are all exhausted! Exhausted in all the best ways possible of course. I loved this show and this cast so much that I watched 3 1/2 performances that week, which is something I never do. Usually just one time for me. Btw, the 1/2 performance was because there was an alternate on for Jane Seymour so I had to watch until her rendition of "Heart of Stone." Which did not disappoint. 

It was very important to us at Broadway Theatre League to bring SIX: The Musical for a full week run here in Huntsville. We are very focused on trying to transition from a Five-Show-Weekend market to an Eight-Show-Week market. And we were being watched very closely, from the powers that be in NYC, about how SIX would perform in Huntsville. It was a bit nerve-wracking but I'm happy to report that SIX was our highest-grossing show of all time! So here's to lots of full week runs in our future: Cheers!

One of the more challenging parts of moving into an Eight-Show-Week market is educating the public  about the advantages of coming to a Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday performance, instead of the weekend: It's cheaper. There are better seats available. Parking is much less stressful during the week. 

But in the meantime we needed to find a way to promote Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday for SIX, so we approached our local Queendom to help us create a buzz about it. If you're not familiar with the term "Queendom" that is the name for the SIX super fans all over the world. And we want to give a big 'ol THANK YOU to the local Queendom for grabbing your crowns and glam pop outfits and documenting your journeys with SIX this week! You understood the assignment and we sure do appreciate you for that. 

Buzz: Accomplished! SIX was all over Huntsville's social media the entire week, and everyone joined in by the end because nobody wanted FOMO for this engagement. SIX is fully an experience, not just another musical playing the VBC Concert Hall. And y'all were all "Queens of the Castle" this week.

 Next we had the SIX student workshop with high school students from all over the Tennessee Valley. And y'all know that is always one of my favorite parts of the tours being here.

The SIX student workshop was "One of a Kind (no category)!!" Alizé Cruz, who brilliantly plays Katherine Howard in this Broadway touring company, taught 40 of our high school theatre kids choreography from the show ("Six" the song), then gave insightful critiques on their vocal and acting performances. 

And the students were obsessed with her and hanging on her every word! I don't blame them because I was too. Ha! The fact that they got to hang out with Alizé, ask her questions about the show and her career, learn choreography and sing for her is incredible on it's own. But what elevates this experience to a whole other level, is that then they get to see her perform Katherine Howard in SIX right afterwards. This is absolutely a life-changing experience for a lot of these students. And that is why it's always my favorite part of the tour being here! 

Our whole team here at BTL was on a mission to make this the best week ever! More than anything we want to continue bringing full week runs to Huntsville. We had to prove that we could fill up those audiences for all eight performances. So we appealed to SIX superfans, theatre kids, colleges, our beloved theatre teachers (I love y'all so much) and pretty much every diva in the Tennessee Valley that would sound the alarm for us and come running to the show with their crown in hand. And together... we slayed!! THANK YOU!!

In conclusion, SIX was a huge success, both critically and financially, and we couldn't have been happier with the results. But as I always say, don't take our word for it! How about we let you hear it directly from the audience members themselves. Here's what they had to say about SIX:
