Happy Feel-Good Friday y’all! I’ve decided to send out a blog post every Friday about the things that made me feel good this week. No big explanation. Just a list of things that brought a smile to my face. Here’s my top five that had me smiling this week:

  • “It’s the day of the show, y’all!” This line from the 1990’s movie about community theatre, Waiting for Guffman, always makes me LOL. Parker Posey’s earnestness as Libby Mae would make the Grinch’s heart grow three sizes. Also Mean Girls is opening tonight at the Von Braun Concert Hall, so “It’s the day of the show, y’all!”
  • We know that Mean Girls the Movie Musical is coming out in January. But today Reneé Rapp (as Regina George) and Megan Thee Stallion released “Not My Fault” from the Mean Girls Soundtrack. Click here to take a listen à https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xSFknXcKYY4

  • My favorite Broadway show from 2023 was the Tony-Winning revival of Parade. Ben Platt and Micaela Diamond completely blew me away! Well, the show has been green lit for a national tour in 2025. Personally, I can’t wait to spend some more time with Leo and Lucille Frank. #IYKYK
  • My 1987-year-old self is feeling very nostalgic and excited to hear that the vampire, dark-comedy film, The Lost Boys, is being developed into a Broadway musical. And it’s being directed by Michael Arden, who won the Best Director Tony Award this year for Parade. Just please give Dianne Wiest a part in this musical. I could listen to her read, OR SING, the phone book.

  Sharon Wheatley, original Broadway cast member of “Come From Away”,  sets the record straight   Having the distinction of being the only actress who’s performed in the Broadway productions of Les Misérables, The Phantom of the Opera and Cats (the final company) among others, Sharon Wheatley was taking a break from New York City when fate intervened and brought Come From Away and her together. Sharon was living in San Diego in 2015 when she received a Facebook message from a casting director saying that she’s perfect for this new show that is originating there, and they needed a local hire. 11 Broadway Shows in 3 Days… Ready for our reviews?

  You might be thinking how in the world did we see 11 Broadway Shows in 3 Days? Especially when Pretty Woman: The Musical was about to play here in Huntsville for five performances. Well, we divided and conquered is how: half of us flew to NYC for a long weekend, while the other half stayed in Huntsville to prepare for Pretty Woman’s arrival. We’re all exhausted, but we’re all equally inspired! Pretty Woman was a big success. BIG! HUGE! The audiences loved it. And now that they’re off to their next tour stop, I can share our reviews on the 11 shows we saw in NYC: The Great Gatsby : The show was visually stunning. A big splashy Broadway musical for sure with the sets & the costumes, set in the 1920’s, and what a feast for the eyes! Jeremy Jordan was outstanding. We’re still in shock that he didn’t receive a Tony nomination for this one. We highly recommend The Great Gatsby if you’re a fan of the book and/or the movie(s).
